Beaumaris remains a living treasure trove of mid-century modernism. Come explore the streets and peer behind the tea trees as we explore and appreciate the mid-century modern homes that define this unique suburb.
A 1956 publication from the Royal Victorian Institute of Architects quoted Beaumaris as having ‘the greatest concentration of interesting houses in the metropolitan area.’
The walking tours will focus on the mid-century modern aesthetic, as well as our unique neighbourhood character with native gardens and reserves.
We also have a significant cultural legacy as you’ll also learn about the architects, designers and artists who have called Beaumaris home. We’ll share some surprising history of the area and share some humourous stories from the past.
The walking tour will commence from the Beaumaris Library, 96 Reserve Road. Each tour will be fully guided with a prepared commentary and pictorial accompaniment.
The actual routes won’t be revealed until closer to the event, but we expect they will be leisurely strolls of approximately 3km which should be of about 1 to 1.5 hours in duration.
Terms and conditions will be published on our Eventbrite ticketing site.
