What's cooking for 2018?

The Beaumaris Modern committee are off to a flying start by locking in some dates for our 2018 calendar of events.

Over the summer break we were approached by the National Trust to register an event to feature in the 2018 Australian Heritage Festival. A theme of this year’s festival is Modernism and hence we are perfectly placed to contribute and participate.

The event is titled “Let’s Talk MCM Heritage: An expert panel discussion” and the tentative date is the evening of Thursday 17 May. We already have some well known personalities who have agreed to be panelists and we’re very excited to be announcing the line-up soon.

In partnering with the National Trust, we can also promote other events in our calendar to their 24,000+ Victorian members and link in to their advocacy programs including Suburban Modern.

Here’s what we’re cooking up for the year:

  • 25 March: Group excursion to the Marimekko exhibition at Bendigo Art Gallery, including rail travel and lunch. Read more about it here and here
  • 17 May: Let’s Talk MCM Heritage: An expert panel discussion, Beaumaris Bowling Club
  •  17 August: Beaumaris Modern Inaugural AGM, including guest speakers
  • 16 September: Beaumaris Modern @ the Concourse Car Show
  • 28 October: Open House day. House tours of a selection of Beaumaris’ finest examples of mid Century modern architecture
  • 7 December: A very Mid Mod Christmas (party)
  • February 2019: Group excursion to Palm Springs Modernism Week. Read more about it here
